I would have rated this higher than 8/10, were it not for the reception at arrival. We had only just booked through booking.com and the receptionist told us it took about 10 mins to get through to her. Very strange as I already had the confirmation number, but 'no', we had to wait. While we were waiting, three! different guests/couples walked in ( 'Any availability?) booked on the spot and were swiftly helped with a big smile. When I tried again to get our room, I was told to sit down and wait. NO hurry for us. It took 30 mins! The hotel was fine, no noise from the street, friendly staff at breakfast and when we left the next morning, there were 3 different people sitting at reception who all waved nicely good bye. The hotel is a bit outdated, but we did not book top luxury. Great location for walks from there. The 11km walk partly through the wood along the river was great. Breakfast was good. We ate after the groups had left, so very quiet.

I booked 'King Room with Garden View', a lovely large room very clean and presentable on arrival, fully furnished, tv, kettle with items for making tea, coffee, hairdryer and towels supplied. Bed comfy, I note other reviews remarking on poor decor of some rooms, room 128/Glenfarclas in good decorative order as was the bathroom, shower adequate. All staff, reception and restaurant staff excellent, as a coeliac I requested gluten free options, dinner and breakfast delicious, breakfast served as buffet, staff served me seperately from kitchen to avoid cross contamination issues, I felt staff went out of their way to accommodate me which was very reassuring. Highly recommend

I was looking for a hotel somewhere nice with a good rate just to get some work done without distractions for a few days and this was perfect. The staff were all friendly. Room was warm and the bathroom was spotless, shower looked new. Didn’t try the breakfast but the dinners in the restaurant were great (I heard praises coming from people at nearby tables too). Good location, easy to get to by public transport and the park right opposite was nice for a short walk (or a long one maybe, it had paths going a lot of different ways). I saw some deer there.

Rebecca

Good buffet full breakfast, evening meals with varied menu, well-presented and at reasonable cost. Excellent location at the edge of town within easy distance of High Street shops etc. Single room was well-apportioned and comfortable. Bed had the two best pillows I have had in any hotel. Adequate parking in front of hotel. Without exception, every member of staff was helpful, courteous and friendly.

Phillip

The staff were excellent. The food was very good. The bar was good but a little pricy. Music was at a good level and very pleasant. Our room was a good size with a lovely bay window and seats and table to look out into the gardens. Bed was comfy and furniture was good.
